My name is Michaela Cernescu. I live in Verona, New Jersey, a quiet residential area, but 30 minutes to Manhattan, NY, one hour to sandy beaches on New Jersey shore, two hours from the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania.

Yes, you can guess from this introduction that I like the outdoors. This picture was taken in the Smoky Mountains. You can see me  after a long and tiring hike I made on that day.

I have been an eBay seller for the last five years. I am an Education Specialist trained by eBay and I teach three classes. It is easy to sell on eBay, but it is hard to get started. I know because I was there. I struggled to find all the answers myself and I learned from my mistakes. It is possible to go this route but is time consuming and sometimes disappointing.

When I went to my first eBay live conference in 2005 at San Jose. I found a crowd of 15,000 people. I was curious to know who my peers were. I was surprised to find out that

    *   40% of eBayers are retired people, who have time and are active. They make extra money and they are happy

    *   20% are very young people, just some kids, PC wizards who make pocket money selling last year's college books or old stuff from Granny's attic.

    *   40% are middle-age people who have jobs and do eBay in their spare time. They want to learn the business and do it 100% of the time when they retire. I spoke with them, and they told me: "I am part of the bum generation and I don't think Uncle Sam will take care of me better than I can."

I hope these statistics will inspire you to try; it is a good skill to have under your belt.
