No doubt about it, there are a lot of confusing terms and
initials in the world of internet marketing. There are some, like
PLR and MRR, that you definitely want to know and understand. Below is a list of product
selling rights and their definitions to help with any confusion you
may have.
Resell Rights
If you buy an information product with resell rights, it
means you are allowed to resell the product and keep all the profit
for yourself. Basic
resell rights do not give you the right to change the product in any
way or claim it as your own product. In other words, you cannot
tweak it or put your name on it, you can only resell
it.
Master Resell Rights
(MMR)
Master resell rights gives you all the rights of basic resell
rights, but also allows you to resell the resell rights. This means you sell the
product to someone and they can turn around and sell it
themselves. This is
more attractive to some people because they like the option of being
able to resell products they have bought, especially if it's a
really great product and they know they could sell it to their
list.
Private Label Rights
(PLR)
Private label rights is a popular option because you are
allowed to change the product any way you want, and you can put your
name on it. Whether you
make some minor changes or a major re-haul, the product is now yours
to do with what you want.
Add more content, change the graphics, take out anything, and
generally mess with it because you can.
Give Away
Rights
This is when you are allowed to give the product away, but
you cannot change it in any way and you cannot sell it. Marketers do this when they
want their free ebook to go viral. It gives them exposure,
builds their list, and makes them money on embedded affiliate
links. In turn, other
marketers will want to distribute the ebook to their people if it's
informative and helpful.
Public
Domain
These are products that are free to use by anyone as the
product's copyright has either expired or never existed. These products won't cost
you money themselves, but you may want to join a membership site to
gain easy access rather than spending a lot of time doing the
legwork yourself.
Please read the resell license
agreement for each product, as each may be different. You can find them either in
the front of the pdf if the product is an ebook, or separately in
the zip file.
Here are examples of two different versions of a license
agreement or TOS (terms of service):

give away this report only in its entirety and with
all links left intact.
It's important to know the difference in product selling
rights to avoid any future legal problems. I hope this clears up any
confusion you may have.
The next time you think about purchasing a product, take a
look to see if it has resell rights. This might help you make the
decision whether to buy or not.
As always, if you have any questions, please
ask!
